The Bachelorette - Emily Maynard - Episode 3

Emily's first one-on-one date tonight was with Chris.  She decided to make him work for his dinner by climbing to the top of a massive building.  This was more of a "traditional" Bachelorette date night, if you know what I mean.  But, Chris was up for the challenge.

They made it despite the weather getting bad.  It got super windy and a storm started moving in.  Emily got scared but she had Chris by her side for comfort.
At the top they enjoyed a lovely dinner and had great conversation.  Emily continues to be really impressed by Chris.  She seemed to get a little concerned when she realized how old Chris was.  He is only 25.  Emily is 26.  She doesn't normally date guys that are younger than her so, this threw her for a loop.  By the end of the night she must've overcome that though because Chris got a rose!

They topped off the evening with a private concert from country singer Luke Bryan in the streets of Charlotte.

The participants of tonights group date were Charlie, Sean, John, Michael, Alejandro, Alessandro, Stevie, Ryan, Doug, Jef, Tony, and Travis.  Unfortunately, ABC decided not to post ANY photos from this portion of the episode so, I have no visuals for you.

Emily took the group to a nearby park and led them to believe that it was just going to be a day playing football.  Much to their dismay, the day turned out to be an ambush from Emily's closest friends.  They were able to interview the guys one by one and tell Emily what they thought of them.  Some guys were on their best behavior, but others were a little too honest.  Alessandro, for example, let the women know that he's 1) cheated on a previous girlfriend in the past, and 2) had a one night stand with his cousin (3rd cousin so, maybe it doesn't count, right?).
Oh, Alessandro...you are so dumb.  He got even more dumb as the episode went on.  We'll get into that later.

Alessandro wasn't the only guy scoring points with Emily.  Ryan decided to open up his pie hole by saying that Emily shouldn't get fat because he would be less attracted to her if she did.  "I would still LOVE you, I just wouldn't love ON you as much."
What a charmer.  We'll see where THAT gets you Ryan.

Throughout the date Tony seemed to be missing his son at home a ton.  He was constantly talking about how much he missed him and wanted to be with him.
Emily knows exactly how he's feeling so, she decides to send him home early.  I don't think she really saw a future with him anyway.

Sean is the lucky guy who got a rose on the group date.  He impressed Emily's friends the very most, in fact, one of them probably would've taken him home if she could.

The final one-on-one date of the night went to Arie.  I don't know if you noticed, but Arie is pretty cute.
Emily took Arie in a private jet to Tennessee to visit Dollyworld.  Emily is a huge fan of hers so, it was only fitting that he see this side of her.
They had a great time playing games and getting to know each other better.
They even sat down to try to write a love song together.
Much to Emily's surprise, Dolly Parton showed up to sing to them!  She was shocked because she's such a big fan.
Dolly serenaded them while they danced.  Such a cute moment!

Later, at the cocktail party, a lot of revealing conversations took place.  First of all, Travis decided to ditch the weird egg.  Emily told him it was time to let it go so, together, they smashed it.

Probably the most interesting of all came from Alessandro, the jerk (pictured earlier in this post).  He told Emily that raising her child was a "compromise" he would have to make for her.  Emily wasn't happy about that.  She doesn't want Ricki to be a "compromise" for anyone.  She wants them to consider her an honor to raise so, bye bye Alessandro.  He was out of there before Emily even had an opportunity to hand out the roses.

Tonight's fatalities were Tony, Alessandro, and Stevie (yay!).  Stevie was creepy.

The Bachelorette - Emily Maynard - Episode 2

Emily picked Ryan as her first one-on-one date of the season.
As it turned out, they had a great time!  They weren't whisked away on a private jet.  They didn't bungee jump off of any sky scrapers or repel down any mountains.  Nope, they got to have a REAL down to Earth kind of date.  Emily wants to see if these guys can handle her normal day to day life.  Smart girl.  They started by driving to Emily's house and baking cookies.  It was Emily's turn to provide treats for her daughters soccer team so, that's what they did!  After they baked all afternoon, they took a quick drive over to her daughters game to deliver the goods.  Emily asked Ryan to stay in the car since she wasn't ready to introduce him to her daughter yet.  He understood and waited patiently.

Then it was off to dinner.  They both got cleaned up and went to dinner at one of Emily's favorite restaurants in Charlotte, NC. (did i mention they were filming this season there so Emily could be with her daughter?  oh, yup, they are.)  Emily had no problem putting Ryan on the spot with the tough questions.  In the end he passed her test though because he got a rose to stay around another round!

Then it was time for the group date of the evening.  Participants were: Alejandro, Nate, Alessandro, Charlie, Kyle, Chris, Kalon, Tony, Michael, Jef, John, Aaron, and Stevie.  They got to hang out with Kermit and Miss Piggy all day!
The guys were tasked with such things as singing, dancing, and stand-up comedy.
Here are the two lucky guys, Kyle (left, blue shirt) and John (right, grey shirt) that got to do the stand-up comedy.  They were super nervous and I can't say that I blame them.
All of this hard work was to put on a show to benefit a local charity.  This show ended up raising over $20,000 for them!  Way to go guys.
Jef, from little ol' Utah made the biggest impression on Emily because he got the rose at the end of the night.  I'm not sure I fully understand his hair style.

The last one-on-one date of the night was with Joe.  I was really rooting for this guy because he was my top pick in this competition.  For their date, Emily flew them in a private jet to West Virginia, her hometown state.  They went to the lovely Greenbrier resort for the day.
Looked pretty cool.
It's a resort that Emily remembers visiting when she was a child so, it was a walk down memory lane for her.  They enjoyed dinner and exchanged conversation.  Unfortunately, in the end, Emily just did not feel the "butterflies".  She sent Joe packing.  You could tell his ego was bruised and he couldn't get out of there fast enough.  Emily tried to sugar coat the parting, but it only seemed to make him more irritated.  Bye, bye Joe.

Tonights rejects were Joe, Aaron, and Kyle.

The Bachelorette - Emily Maynard - Episode 1

Ok guys, here we go with another season of The Bachelorette!  Since I don't have time to tell you more about this seasons Bachelorette, Emily Maynard, I'm just going to tell you to go here.  Do your homework!

Episode 1 started out with a little getting-to-know-you session on Emily and a select few of the lucky Bachelors that were picked to contend for her heart.  After that, she was finally able to meet them!  She was very nervous, as she should be.

One clever guy, by the name of Travis, told Emily that this here egg represented her and her daughter Ricki and that he would protect it throughout this journey to show her how much he cared for them.  A little bit of a bold move for the first night, don't you think?

Chris, being the smooth guy that he is, decided it would be fun to have a bobblehead of himself made so that Emily would forever have something that was an awesome representation of him.  Oh, and don't you worry, he had one made of her, as well.  She was beyond impressed (really, she liked it!).  Good for you, Chris!

Emily sure loved all of the attention she was getting from the guys.  This was not her typical day at all!

Probably the cheesiest move of the night came from a man named Tony.  He decided it would be a good idea to introduce himself as "Charming.  Prince Charming." and proceeded to have Emily try on a glass slipper to see if it fit.

Guess what, Tony?  It fit!  Emily is your princess for sure!

The heart felt moment of the night came from a man named Doug.  Doug is a single father of one boy, age 11.  He had his son, named Austin, write Emily a letter to let her know how great of a father he was.  Emily melted.  She really appreciated the sentiment.  It was no surprise that Doug was awarded the first impression rose at the end of the night!  Way to go, Doug!
There were six guys total that got the boot.  They were (from left to right below) Brent, David, Jackson, Jean-Paul, Lerone, and Randy.
Sorry fellas.  You just didn't make the cut for this Southern Belle.
